  • Near the town of Morganton, NC, there is a path to the summit of Hawk's Bill. It is one of the landmark mountains surrounding Linville Gorge, a wilderness area which, because of its ruggedness has never been settled. The other landmark mountains are Table Rock, Shortoff, and Dogback Ridge. Table Rock and Hawk's Bill can be seen from very far away on the Blue Ridge Parkway and on roads leading to the Blue Ridge.
