Cherry Blossoms Surround the Jefferson Memorial

Cherry Blossoms Surround the Jefferson Memorial

All my life through, the new sights of Nature made me rejoice like a child.

~Marie Curie (1867-1934) Polish-born French chemist

  • On Saturday morning, April 3, 2010, I awoke at 5:00 a.m. to photograph the cherry blossoms. I was not alone--there were throngs of photographers and nature lovers lining the tidal basin where the cherry blossoms were blooming. There was not a single blossom on the ground, and all of the trees were full. It was truly spectacular, so I tried to capture the beauty as well as I could.
